Pierre Matile
Pierre Matile is a Swiss photographer and author whose work explores the fragile boundaries between intimacy and distance, presence and absence, reality and imagination. His photographs emerge from ordinary encounters, reflections, gestures and objects that briefly reveal something unexpected about the people and places around us.
A Summer Bruegel
Like a contemporary Bruegel, the photograph gathers dozens of small human stories into a single scene. Swimmers, spectators, couples, solitary figures and passers-by share the riverbank, each absorbed in their own activity. Seen from a distance, everyday life becomes a kind of accidental choreography — a portrait of the city through the behaviour of its inhabitants.
Between Worlds
Seen through layers of glass and reflection, a woman withdraws into her own space. The image plays with distance, intimacy and the fragile boundary between observing and being observed.
Sleeping Beauty
