Margarita Gasca Odériz

Born in Mexico City. I am a visual storyteller. Photography is my passion and the way I freely express myself. My photos are strongly inspired by the On the Road philosophy; influenced by art, literature and cinema; and driven by emotions, mysterious atmospheres and raw reality.

Becoming

This dreamy vintage-looking image of two persons walking by the Rhine was taken during times of change for Margarita Gasca Oderiz as a photographer and artist. It is an emotional image of her embracing a new beginning. The picture combines the sorrow of leaving one stage of life behind in Singapore, with the curiosity to start a new exciting chapter in Basel.

"On the Road” photo series by Margarita Gasca Oderiz inspired by the book On the Road by Jack Kerouac.

This series draws deep inspiration from Jack Kerouac’s On the Road. It tells a simple yet powerful story of freedom. At its heart is a road trip, a journey of a free spirit traveling along Route 66, through the states of Arizona and Nevada.

There is the open road, classic diners, canyon views, and the sunset inviting the night. The traveller arrives in Las Vegas ready to embrace whatever the night may bring. The dawn breaks once again, illuminating the path back to the road, back to freedom.

“Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as if ever so on the road”, Jack Kerouac, On the Road.

Frame of On the Road series:
Custom made wooden black frame of approximately 72X62cm.
The wooden black frame includes 20 photos of 10X10cm each printed in matte acrylic glass and individually framed in black.
